Holiday Reminder

It’s that OTHER special time of year again, and here’s a reminder to everyone celebrating Christmas this year:

SLOW YOUR ROLL. It’s WELL before Thanksgiving, and some of you already have lights and trees up. Christmas is not supposed to last for two straight months! You know what happens when you bring your Christmas nonsense on this side of Thanksgiving? It doesn’t make these weeks any more magical. It makes Christmas more grubby and mundane because we have to look at it while trying to get through the regular drudgery of life with twinkle lights wrapped around it.

You don’t have any control over the radio stations that insist on playing “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas” (when it decidedly isn’t), or stores putting out their Christmas decorations the second the clock strikes November 1st, but we as individuals get to have a say in when we let Christmas through the front door. Hold strong. Wait until the leftovers get cold on Thanksgiving.

I actually have a lot more to say on this subject. A LOT more. Like, a whole heck of a lot more. But for now, I’ll simply say:

Save it for Fa-La-La-Later.
