Merger-Shmerger

Warner Brothers and Discovery are two big-deal media corporations who merged back in April, and things are getting weird.

A lot of people already know they’re throwing out a 90% complete Batgirl movie for strange tax benefits, and now they’re removing content from one of the best streaming services around, HBO Max, with no intention of moving it to another service. One of the casualties is Infinity Train, a show I adore and have written about on this very site. Close Enough (from the creators of Regular Show) and the animated Aquaman series are also on the chopping block. To be clear, these are all Warner Brothers own shows. Reports suggest they’re being removed to avoid paying the creators royalties.

Now, I may be a simple country blogger, and I allow I don’t know much about the dealings of fancy business folks, but I reckon destroying the parts of your product people enjoy and forcing them to pay more for it makes less sense than a torn up dollar bill.

Seems to this bumpkin that making and acquiring things people want is a win-win scenario for companies and consumers, but what do I know?
