T’was the Night Before Christmas (Break)

T’was the Night before Christmas Break,

And all the through the district,

All the teachers were stirring,

Trying to throw together lesson plans quick.

“I didn’t even think we’d make it

This far!” They exclaimed in distress

“I’ve been waiting for this since

September, I’m a mess!”

“Can I put on a movie? Or just

Leave them to eat?

I can’t think for another day,

Just let me have this treat!”

But as they tinkered and puzzled

And gathered the will,

For even one more day with children,

Surprises waited still.

“We have something for you!”

The kids screamed the next day.

The teachers were all touched,

“We don’t know what to say!”

“Remember that thing from two

Months back?” The kids said.

“I did it just now. Will you grade it

Right now, or tonight instead?”

“Get lost, you monsters!” Every teacher

Wished they could jeer

“Where was this effort when

My mind was still here!”

But with the magic of the season,

Teachers can respond just right.

“Have a great break.

Now get out of my sight."
