Pitch, Please Ten

Welcome back to Pitch, Please, where I pitch sure-to-be film successes inventing movie premises based on prompts that I write with a little help from my old friend, the internet. Last time’s prompt was:

Ah, the American suburbs. Quiet neighborhoods, green lawns, and …Genetic Experiments Gone Wrong?! Suburban America is about to get a whole lot less peaceful when the Doherty family moves in next door. Sure they seem like an all-American family, but they’ve got a secret: the kids are actually human-animal hybrids!

They’ll need to be careful to avoid the watchful eyes of the neighborhood’s eccentric, overly-enthusiastic taxidermist, but it’s hard when a family packed this much hijinks in their moving truck!

Luckily, I have just the thing. Allow me.

The Dave and Deb Doherty are model neighbors: they keep their lawn looking neat and green, they wave as they pass you on the street, and they’ve engaged in scientific experimentation beyond the understanding of mere mortals! That’s how they got their rambunctious, exuberant kids: Pascal and Penelope.

Pascal and Penelope aren’t like the other kids on the block. They swim like fish, wrestle like wild animals, and have a hard time keeping their beaks clean (not to mention Pascal is just a bit venomous…) But with a baseball cap and a wig, they’re just another couple of kids to everyone on the block.

Everyone, that is, except Norma Lures, the cranky old lady on the corner whose favorite past time is stuffing dead animals and displaying them in her living room. When she spots a tail on one of the Doherty kids, the kids will have to work together to avoid ending up with their backs to the wall: literally!

It’s a story about adoption, family, growth, grief, and joy. In theaters this summer, join us for:

Wow, so refreshing to see a movie with mutants AND heart, you know?

Want to be a part of movie history? Feel free to help me fill in the blanks on this next prompt in the comments or on Twitter @SharpeWrites with the hashtag, #pitchplease.

Next time’s prompt is:

It’s a tale as old as time: a bunch of scrappy underdogs waiting for their shot,  a grumpy coach whose career was cut short by ______________, and their arch-rivals: ______________________. This fall, watch a classic sports legend as your new favorite team, the Centerville Seahorses, learn to love the sport of ___________________...

…And maybe, they’ll learn a little something about themselves along the way.
