Public Service Announcement

The video game sequel/TV show adaptation you’ve been waiting years for was not announced today.

That company’s social media account was not actually “hacked.”

Any scientific discoveries or breakthrough technologies you hear about today almost certainly didn’t happen.

No one is announcing their wedding, child, or retirement today.

Lying isn’t inherently fun or interesting.

There are few celebrated holidays with a squeaky clean past, but this one literally started as bullying the people who started the year on a different calendar, and that just seems like a weird way to get a holiday started.

And some people enjoy April Fool’s Day (I imagine), and I don’t want this to come across as a “hot take,” but in an age where rampant lies on the internet are causing very visible harm, I think that we can just start skipping this one. We’re all good. It can just be the first of April.

Joke/prank/misleading link deliberately omitted from this message.
