The Sandman Cometh

We are less than a month out from the adaptation of one of the most ambitious comics of all time: The Sandman.

Don’t let the preview image fool you: it’s not a Twilight thing. For those of you out of the know, The Sandman follows the story of Dream, sometimes called Morpheus, a god-like figure who controls the realm of dreams and stories. He’s one of the Endless, beings older and more influential than most deities, that often take human forms, though they are far from human. In this first season he will return to his realm after a long absence and rebuild his kingdom come Hell or high water.

The comic series is one of the most impactful stories I’ve ever read, endlessly (Ha.) reread-able and boundlessly creative.

And I really, really want the show to work. I don’t know if it will. It’s possible that it simply can’t. But I jump on any version or addition to this story that I can get, and I know that unless early reviews spoil all hope, I’m going to be watching this the day it premieres.
