Writing Prompts for Busy People

Want to write, but just don’t have the time? I can relate. That’s why I’ve created a few prompts to inspire some very, very short stories. They’re packed with all the drama of your favorite tales of the page and screen, but they’ll be over before you know it. Not every story has to be a meal, gang. Sometimes you just need a little fiction snack. Help yourself to these narrative amuse-bouches.

-The Chosen One dies right after a mysterious mentor reveals their destiny.

-Two quirky 20-somethings almost have a meet cute, then don’t.

-A detective arrives at a murder scene. The murderer is still there, hiding very badly.

-Doctors at the dramatic hospital realize they don’t actually need to perform a major surgery.

-An old house is haunted, but not very. The new owners are mildly unnerved, but get over it.

-The underdog sports team does pretty okay against the reigning champs, but lose as everyone expected.

-A brilliant inventor finally cracks the secret of time travel, but forgets to account for the position of Earth as he jumps backwards in time.

…Enjoy.
