It Came to Me in a Dream

L’esprit de l’escalier is a term to describe the type of perfect, witty, comment you only think about when it’s too late. There’s a whole Seinfeld episode about it.

“Jerk Store.” Powerful stuff.

But the thought and focus that my brain should reserve for these kinds of thoughts have instead been going to withering comments that I come up with in dreams…

Comments that are directed specifically at me.

This weekend I dreamed that I received the following feedback on a short story I wrote earlier this year:

“Absolutely not.

(Wow, so edgy).”
