More Hades, Hell Yeah

So, I know I just mentioned this game, but bear with me. Two years ago, Hades from Supergiant Games dropped. It looked a little bit like this.

That’s Zagreus, son of Hades, trying to fight his way out of the Underworld to find his mother, Persephone.

And it was fantastic.

Hades is a game that gets to the fun right away. You’re already on your way up to the surface. Your Olympian family sends you gifts to cut down the shades, witches, and monsters of Greek mythology. You’re slashing, weaving, and casting spells.

Then you die. Obviously.

So you get up and try again. And again…

You get it. Along the way you get to know the denizens of the Underworld and unlock new abilities as you piss off your father in your quest for freedom.

The soundtrack is killer. The writing is fun. The action is fast and strategic. Every time you try to find a way out, the paths reset, but when you reach a new landmark, the rush is so satisfying.

And last week, I got treated to this trailer:

And I. Can’t. Wait.
