Pitch, Please Eleven

Welcome back to Pitch, Please, where I pitch sure-to-be film successes inventing movie premises based on prompts that I write with a little help from my old friend, the internet. Last time’s prompt was:

It’s a tale as old as time: a bunch of scrappy underdogs waiting for their shot  a grumpy coach whose career was cut short by  a career change to the theater, and their arch-rivals: the School for the Performing Arts. This fall, watch a classic sports legend as your new favorite team, the Centerville Seahorses, learn to love the sport of Soccer ...

…And maybe, they’ll learn a little something about themselves along the way

Neat!

So here we go:

The ladies of the Centerville Sea Horses are a team with heart, but they haven’t won a soccer game in five seasons. But when co-captains Jasmine and Kara find out the director at the local playhouse, William Stryker, used to coach England’s National Men’s Soccer team, they have no choice but to ask him to coach their team.

“I jolly well don’t do that anymore, girls. I direct stage dramas, not so-called athletes.”

“But you have to, Mr. Stryker! You’re the only one who can!”

Hope seems slim when Mr. Stryker slams the doors in Jasmine and Kara’s faces, until Kara pretends he slammed her foot in the door.

“Ow… owwww.”

“That’s pathetic.”

“What?”

“I don’t believe your performance for a second. Acting comes from a place of honesty, young lady. Now: make me believe I broke your foot.”

As the team’s highly convincing fake injuries give them the edge they’ve always needed, the team feels reinvigorated… but with the big game against the fakers over at the School for the Performing Arts looms, Mr. Stryker and his team will have to face the music… and a figure from Mr. Stryker’s past…

Coming this summer, watch the dramatic, heart-pounding sports film that causing all the fosse!

Watch: It’s A Flop!
